I Will Carry It with Me for Life
I observed counselling sessions, worked at a medical clinic, led mental health workshops at local schools and visited a psychiatric hospital. I learned a lot there and it was a really amazing experience. It was extremely character building and I will carry it with me for life. I think I learned many transferable skills.
I got on really well with the other volunteers and we had many adventures together. It was so fun, I really enjoyed getting to explore Ghana. I spent a lot of time in Accra, my highlights were the craft market and Makola market and going to bars where people were dancing, Cape Coast seeing the crocodiles, learning about the history, visiting the jungle and staying in Kokrobite.
Overall I had a really incredible time, it was an amazing character-building and extremely fun opportunity.

They Treated Me Like Family
I enjoyed my journey in India so much. The kids and Smriti are so incredible and I’m extremely grateful I was able to help and support them. They really treated me like family, it was so nice and humbling to experience their hospitality and warmth.
The whole programme was super interesting and informative. During my psychology placement at the hospital, I learned some new things and got to experience what psychology means in India, which is quite different from how we understand it in Europe. I had an amazing experience and feel like I made a real difference.

I Highly Recommend this Unique Programme
I searched for ages to find a programme that matched my university degree and career interests. I would highly recommend this unique programme with Vocational Impact.
I thought the language barrier might be a problem, but this only helped me understand the importance of body language and I actually found this one of the most important lessons as you can’t rely on speaking the same language everywhere you practice in the world.

VI Took Care of Everything
We went to India with Vocational Impact and had the best time. We were taken care of by the local volunteer coordinator Naren and had a totally life-changing experience in Jaipur. We built our volunteering into a bigger trip to India. We can’t wait to go back. We loved how VI took care of everything, and nothing was too much hassle. Great experience!

It Changed My Life
I volunteered with Vocational Impact for three months as part of my University Masters degree in International Human Rights Law. Not only did the experience enhance my career opportunities, but it changed my life. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

I Would Love to Volunteer Again
I learned so much in each placement area of the clinic. Outreach was my favorite part as I felt I was being useful to the nurses. I also learnt a lot about child care and development here in Ghana. The interactions between nurses and patients were the most interesting to observe, as well as the differences in using resources. I also really enjoyed midwifery and observed how hard the midwives work. I had the opportunity to work in antenatal, delivery and postnatal care in the midwifery department.
Most of the nurses were very friendly and let us ask questions and help out. I have learnt so much and it has made me so grateful for what we have in the UK. I would love to volunteer again in the future.
